Sustainability

We are dedicated to protecting our historic waterfront and the environment, and we’re proud of our ongoing sustainability initiatives and commitment to a greener future.

Waste & Energy Management

  • We have implemented a new on-site waste management program, which includes an electric waste management vehicle. This allows us to sort and recycle cardboard, glass, and other materials, ensuring that 100% of waste from our businesses is now diverted from landfill, with more than 55% being recycled. This also drastically cuts our carbon footprint by centralising waste collection from individual businesses to just two collections per week for the entire estate.
  • We also use energy-efficient LED lighting across the entire estate and source our energy and water from sustainable providers.

Environmental Standards

  • The Royal Albert Dock and Salthouse Dock have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award for five consecutive years. This international accolade recognises our high standards of environmental management, safety, and water quality. Our water management system is also sustainability certified.

Green Initiatives & Biodiversity

  • We are continually looking for ways to improve our sustainability. Recent plans for the dock include a five-year green spaces master plan, the conservation management of over 100 trees, and new lighting designed to manage the dark skies needs of native species.
