The International Slavery Museum is now closed for a period of essential maintenance and repair work ahead of a major capital project – subject to funding – for redevelopment. The museum is due to reopen in 2028.
The International Slavery Museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to the history and legacies of transatlantic slavery. Through its powerful collection, research and public engagement – including an annual event for Slavery Remembrance Day – the museum inspires understanding, reflection, and education.
