Santa Paddle to Light Up the Dock for Alder Hey

Santa Paddle to Light Up the Dock for Alder Hey

Get ready for a spectacular start to the festive season as the Royal Albert Dock and the wider Liverpool waterfront is set to transform into a dazzling canal of light for the first-ever Santa Paddle, taking place on Saturday 29 November 2025.

Paddlers will take to the water for a magical 2.5 km illuminated parade, beginning at the Liverpool Watersports Centre and gliding past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks — including the Dock, the M&S Bank Arena, and the Royal Liver Building — all shimmering with Christmas lights.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their kayaks or canoes and don their most festive attire, competing for the title of best-dressed paddler. Whether taking part solo, in pairs, or as a team, this event welcomes all abilities (minimum age 8, with adult supervision).

The fun doesn’t stop on the water! At the dock, spectators can soak up the festive atmosphere with a choir, elves, and even a larger-than-life polar bear spreading Christmas cheer throughout the day.

All proceeds from the Santa Paddle will go directly to Alder Hey Children’s Charity, helping to support vital care and research for children and young people.
