Love your Liverpool

20th July, 2020

A new campaign is urging residents of Liverpool City Region to ‘Love Your Liverpool’ and support its culture, hospitality and retail experiences – like the Albert Dock and our shops, bars, restaurants and galleries.

It’s designed to give people ideas for ‘holidaying at home’, and seeing the city through the eyes of a tourist. If you’d gone for a city break somewhere else, what would you do? Head out for a meal? Go to a world-famous gallery? Have a drink on a World Heritage waterfront? Exactly… so why not give them a go at the Dock this summer?

The idea brings together the small independent cafes and restaurants, famous institutions, unique shops and unusual bars that are some of our favourite Dock venues – and need local support more than ever.

Our visitor economy is worth a whopping £3.3 billion to the city annually and it supports more than 38,000 jobs. But it’s been especially badly hit by the coronavirus crisis.

We’ve already made some changes – have you noticed we’ve made the most of our outside space and increased outdoor seating, so visitors can stay socially-distanced while they enjoy the waterfront?

Dock tenants have also being encouraged to apply for ‘We’re Good to Go’, a free industry standard and kitemark scheme operated by VisitEngland. It’s designed as a way to ensure businesses follow public health guidance and give customers confidence for their visit.

Liverpool’s Mayor, Joe Anderson said: “Culture and tourism has been the rocket fuel that has fired Liverpool’s regeneration over the last couple of decades. We now need local people to spend time enjoying what’s attracted visitors from all over the world to our city in record numbers in recent years. Spending your Liverpool pound here in the city will go directly in to the local economy and ensure the survival of many much-loved businesses.”

You’ll find more information and ideas for getting involved on our social media channels, plus info about opening hours and booking requirements. Come along, join us, and support your favourite local independents.
