Folk on the Dock returns to Albert Dock this August bank holiday as we celebrate 3 days of folk, roots and acoustic music from Saturday 25 – Monday 27 August 2018.

Now in its third year, Folk on the Dock 2018 boasts ten stages and 200 artistes attracting music lovers and performers from all over the world. Also incorporating the Liverpool Shanty festival with music on boats around the water’s edge and the contemporary Dock Stage which is to be hosted by the legendary Janice Long. In 2018 a new venue will be added to the August Bank Holiday festival programme with a fantastic, ticketed launch event with a headline artist on Friday 24th August, in the stunning Museum of Liverpool.

The first of this years headline acts have now been confirmed...

Grammy nominated lyricist and double Ivor Novello award winner Chris Difford, the co-founder of Squeeze, will be performing an acoustic set on the Dock Stage. Difford has written some of the most enduring and best loved songs such as ‘Up The Junction’, ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Labelled With Love’, and ‘Tempted’ and has been touring extensively on the folk scene. Chris is one of the country’s most respected singer songwriters and has co-written with artists including Paul Carrack, Bryan Ferry, Trilok Gurtu, Lamont Dozier, Jools Holland and Elton John.

Daoirí Farrell, the winner of two BBC Folk Awards in 2017, will be flying in from Ireland to perform at this years Folk on the Dock. He is sure to draw the crowds having bagged The Horizon Award for Best Newcomer and Best Traditional Track last year! Visitors to the festival will be amongst the first to hear exclusive tracks from a new album due for release in the autumn.
