Maritime Museum hosts Alder Hey’s first art exhibition

07th March, 2022

The Maritime Museum is set to host Alder Hey’s first ever art exhibition titled Brighter Futures. Showcasing the work of celebrated artists, such as Yoko Ono, Tony Ross and Willy Russell, the exhibition will display over 120 items especially curated for the event.

The local children’s hospital is aiming to raise £100,000 for its charity, 7in10 Appeal, which seeks to transform the way mental health services are delivered to children and young people. Works are available to purchase at an online auction that is open from now until the end of the exhibition, which can be accessed here. British artist, Rachael Howard, who is also an Art’s for Health practitioner at Alder Hey, has created a piece of art for Brighter Futures with the help of 11 patients. Titled ‘My favourite word…’, the colourful creation highlights words that bring each individual involved happiness, including ‘summer’, ‘unique’ and ‘Peppa Pig’.

Brighter Futures will be open to the public on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March.
