Royal Albert Dock Liverpool announces seasonal projections to light up the waterfront

Royal Albert Dock Liverpool will light up the waterfront this winter with a season of eye-catching large-scale projections on the inner-quay side of the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Launching on Halloween – 31 October – and running until February 2020, it will include spooky Halloween projections on the 31, plus River of Light, Remembrance Day and magical Christmas stories, alongside a variety of stunning illustrations.

Six projections have been announced so far, created by Double Take Projections, which uses projection mapping to design some of the UK’s biggest light shows.

The giant, glowing ‘screen’ will span more than 85 metres in width and 17 metres in height, creating one of Liverpool’s most unique winter spectacles. After its Halloween launch, the must-see displays will include:

  • 1–9 November sees Portal by Sam Wiehl, part of Liverpool’s River of Light firework festival
  • 10–11 November will feature a Remembrance tribute
  • 12–15 November shows a gallery from the Dock
  • 15 November – 6 January will wow visitors with a magical Christmas story
  • 6 January – 21 February will feature a new season of projections, including Valentine’s, with more still to be announced…

If you’re heading to the Dock for a night out, the impressive projections will be visible from around the Dock – making it a perfect backdrop for Christmas parties, or a Valentine’s meal next year. Britannia Pavilion’s restaurants, including Maray, Rosa’s Thai Cafe and Lunyalita will have some of the best seats in the house for drinks and dining with a spectacular backdrop.
