Dock celebrates FEAST festival with a weekend of family activities.

We spent the first weekend of September hosting our inaugural FEAST festival, inviting thousands of people down to the Dock in a huge celebration of food and drink in Liverpool.

The inner quay saw the appearance of our giant lobster à la carte, injecting vibrancy and brilliant red colour into proceedings. All of our tenants got in on the act as the quay came alive with tasty food and drink. If you missed any of these treats over the weekend, make sure you pop back to
catch up with what has fast become a collection of the best restaurants in Liverpool.

Smuggler’s Cove kept the rum cocktails flowing for the weekend, which were a little too hard to resist in the sunshine; Lunyalita cooked up range of Spanish treats and Turncoat Gin – who are joining us soon with an exciting new venue – created a new Albert Dock gin, which sold out over the weekend. Tate Liverpool created a cocktail inspired by its colourful Keith Haring exhibition, while Maray wowed the crowds with a rainbow-coloured aubergine shawarma in homemade pitta.

Around the corner, Anchor Courtyard rocked a holiday island vibe, with sights, sounds and smells from our newest arrival, Madre, who brought craft beer and tacos to the party. Pie Port and Puffle Waffle also joined in the fun, alongside a DJ for the weekend and our Giant A, which got plenty of attention on Instagram.

Our chef demos and tastings went down a treat. Host Andi Oliver proved a huge hit with the audience as she introduced demonstrations from tenants, including Rosa’s Thai, Maray, Gusto, Lunyalita and TATE Eats on the floating stage. Our sponsor for the weekend, Belling, also hosted a series of cookery classes, which were very easy to follow and take part – for budding cooks of all ages!

There was plenty to do do for all the family – the Dock was peppered with a rainbow of painted faces over the weekend, including a mini unicorn we had by our side on the Sunday. Over in Mermaid Courtyard, The Storybarn had us rapt with tantalising tales and stories.

The Nest and Friends created what’s already become known as Liverpool’s ‘Scousest window’ with a design by signwriter Harry Mytton. The ‘Scouse thesaurus’ includes classic sayings including ‘sound’, ‘deffo’, ‘jarg’ and ‘boss’. The Nest invited a variety of crafty friends along for the weekend, hosting a programme of live arts and crafts demonstrations, including ceramics and screen printing, giving visitors plenty of things to do in Liverpool for the weekend.
